Location: Based at Shepperton, Surrey. Travel will also be involved for meetings etc. 

Salary: £30,000 – £50,000+ p/a depending on KPI and targets being met.

Salary breakdown – £50,000 p/a expected. £30,000 basic, £30,000+ additional with targets being met via sales generated.

A rewarding and exciting job opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate people manager to join our in house maintenance and building team in the role of Maintenance Trade Supervisor.

This role will cover The South of England. This role will be part of a team of Supervisors who cover reactive and voids repairs along with all building works. The role also includes sales incentives and will require the person to be able to carry out quotations and generate new leads.

You will be responsible for the management of a team of circa up to 30 Multi trade and specialist maintenance operatives who work across the south east. You will also have links to the wider business area and will liaise with the Planning and Scheduling team, contact centre and other supervisors to ensure consistency in service delivery.

You will need to be confident in giving advice to operatives on complex jobs and hard fixes and will be responsible for interacting and engaging regularly, and taking ownership of developing capability and ongoing professional development of the individuals in the team. You will also need to be able to carry out quotations for all building works and generate new leads as part of a sales role. This will Include bonus incentives.

You will already, ideally have had experience in leading a dispersed team, and will have a proven track record in managing performance through informal and formal processes, experience in managing absence and will have had past input into recruitment decisions. Alternatively you will be hungry and eager to be successful and be willing to grow immensely in the job, some prior dealings with sales will help your application however a trade background is key.

We are focused on meeting targets, both financial and customer related. We expect our supervisors to have a firm knowledge and be able to actively contribute to ensuring that the Direct Maintenance team’s KPI’s are met. You will be able to analyse data and predict outcomes, and will give advice on how to put things back on track when needed. Good financial acumen is a must and you will have had experience managing budgets.

You will be confident in managing contractors, meeting regularly with the commercial team and reporting any relevant information on performance to them.

We expect our Supervisors to look have a good understanding of Health and Safety including knowledge of Asbestos, Fire and Hygiene and for them to pass this knowledge on to their teams. Dealing quickly with any breaches or potential problems before they happen.

We operate 24hrs a day, and although Monday to Friday will be the working contract, we are looking for individuals that will be constantly contactable should any problems arise, and individuals available to work on Saturdays/Sunday’s on a rota. Regular overtime is also available.

To be considered for this role candidates will demonstrate and have previous experience in:

  • Managing a large team within a Maintenance within Social Housing/Local Authority role
  • Clear and Concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of trades and maintenance
  • Ability to deliver KPIs and manage budgets
  • Passion for inclusive working practices
  • Brilliant Customer Service
  • Able to be motivate others to deliver under pressure
