The West Vancouver Parks Department is accepting applications for a permanent part-time Park Attendant, responsible for a variety of park maintenance and public relations tasks, mainly in the Lighthouse Park.
The work for this position is considered manual work, requiring effort and stamina in all weather conditions. The successful candidate will be working mainly on their own and will be required to perform various maintenance activities that include: garbage collection; vegetation management; trail maintenance; washroom cleaning and other related duties as operationally required.
They will also act as a source of information for the many Park visitors by answering a variety of questions regarding way-finding, park rules/guidelines and general park information.
This is a part-time position. The successful candidate will have:
- General knowledge concerning safe use of landscape maintenance equipment;
- Basic knowledge of native plants and animals;
- Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of manual outdoor work in all types of weather;
- Ability to exercise excellent customer service skills when interacting with park users and the general public
- An aptitude/interest in Park Operations and natural resource management; and,
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of BC
A background in environmental studies, ecology and interpretive programming would be considered an asset.
During the assessment process, successful candidates will be asked to submit a Driver’s Abstract from ICBC.
The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status: Union (WVMEA) / Permanent Part-Time
Hours of Work: 24 hours (3 days) per week (hours and days of work may vary, but include weekends)
Starting Rate of Pay: $26.38 per hour
This position has a pay structure with three steps which increase after a certain number of hours worked.
