A Local Authority in southern England with a shared legal service that provides support on child and adult social care matters seeking an interim Childcare lawyer to join their large team.
Your new role
As a Childcare Lawyer you will be providing legal advice and representation to Local Authority Clients of the joint legal service, particularly in proceedings under the Children Act 1989. You will be conducting legal proceedings on behalf of the Client departments including case preparation.
You will be advising the Client Authority verbally and in writing on legal issues connected with children’s services, to include, but not limited to; Child Protection, Care Proceedings, Special Guardianship and Adoption law.
You will be carrying out advocacy in the Family Court in respect of case management, issues resolution, final, applications for emergency protection order, applications for a placement order and applications under Section 25 Children Act 1989.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be considered for the role, you will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, CILEX or equivalent, with experience in childcare law, preferably within the public or private sector. You will be able to work flexibly within a team and carry out a caseload without supervision. You will have proven advocacy skills and knowledge of local government legislation.
