Auto Warehousing Company Canada is hiring a full-time Vehicle Inventory Clerk for our Brampton ON location. This position is 100% outside and would be responsible for scanning the new cars before they are loaded into the train.

This is a 1st shift position and you must be flexible with up to 12 hours as this position stays until all the cars are loaded. Please apply today for fast consideration!

Summary of Position:

The scanner enters data into AWC’s and the customer’s inventory control system by scanning VIN with a hand-held scanner. The scanner interfaces with the Lead, Supervisor, other AWC associates, AWC and customer quality assurance representatives, and other customer representatives.

Essential Functions, Duties and Tasks:

  • Build rail loads in the computer and load them onto the inventory scanner
  • Download loads onto inventory hand scanner
  • Inputs rail loads into VIPS system
  • Verify the starting position and destination of the vehicles, and enter into VIPS
  • Verify rail car string is clear to load, including proper door positioning, and buck ramp positioning
  • Scan bar codes off vehicles to enter them into the inventory control system
  • Verify vehicles’ VIN plate and Monroney labels for accuracy
  • Ensure vehicles are loaded onto the proper rail car
  • Verify required documents into the vehicle if requested by the customer
  • Move vehicles in load line to expedite loading process
  • Accountable for placing cone at the bottom of the buck ramp, after the last vehicle is loaded
  • Enter information into VIPS system “billing” the customer for the vehicles produced during that shift
  • Scan bar codes on vehicles to enter them into the inventory control system
  • Verify vehicles’ VIN plate and Monroney labels for accuracy
  • Verify required documents into the vehicle if requested by the customer
  • May install minor accessories/paperwork in vehicles
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment, including scanners, tools, work vans, rail yard etc.
  • Notify management of any workplace hazards, or unsafe conditions
  • Responsible for training new associates and/or others as needed
  • React to change productively and to handle other essential tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Build rail loads by entering vehicle VIN numbers into the rail car numbers
  • Ability to read and interpret vehicle identification numbers
  • Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision
  • Ability to keep confidential any work documents seen, or conversations heard during performance of job duties
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to learn new technology and computer applications
  • Ability to interact with others effectively
  • Good visual ability
  • Ability to read and understand VIN number
  • Ability to adhere to strict quality standards without variance

Education, Experience and Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent High level of paying attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license; good driving record
  • Follow directions, both written and verbal
  • Pass a driver’s safety test at 80% or better

Preferred Requirements:

  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Previous work outdoors
  • Inventory and handheld scanner experience
